In the late hours of Monday, April 10, 2017 our precious mother, Conston Marie Sheppard Spradlin, departed her earthly home holding the hands of her loving daughter Barbara and her devoted son Steve and telling her loved ones at her bedside how much she loved them. She entered heaven’s portals to be reunited with the love of her life and husband, Howard Grady Spradlin Sr.
Also there to greet her were her parents, Edward and Neva Sheppard; step-mother, Helen C. Sheppard; sister, Louise Sarver; half-sister, Eunice Burke and brothers, Archie and Marshall Sheppard.
Those left to mourn their loss are her daughter, Barbara, and Sam Smithwick; son, Steve, and Sharon Spradlin, who all were her loyal care-givers. Grandchildren; Sammy and Hope Smithwick, Sheryl Warren, Stacie and Dewayne Quesenberry, Joshua and Veronica Spradlin. Great-grandchildren; Samantha and Noah Smithwick, Brittany and Makayla Warren, Savannah, Dalton, Cole and Grace Haynes and Lorelei and Grady Spradlin, who all brought a smile to her face daily.
She is also survived by her son, Howard Spradlin, Jr. (Regina) in North Carolina as well as their children Christopher (Sewell) and their children Benjamin, Aaron, Zachary and Ethan; Jason (Julie) and their children, Lennon, Lane and Bodhi, and Jeremy Spradlin.
Her sister, Claudine Henderson, sister and brother-in-law Frances & Marcelo Flores, half-sister Ruth Moore and half-brothers Everett & Darlene Sheppard, Harvey and Brenda Sheppard, Charles (Jack) and Dorothy Sheppard and many nieces and nephews also survive her.
Visitation was Thursday, April 13 from 5-8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home. A celebration of her life was held on Friday, April 14 at 11 a.m. in the chapel at McCoy Funeral Home with Minister Larry Adkin officiating.
