The University of Miami has hired Tricia Cullop as head women’s basketball coach, Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich announced Friday.
Cullop comes to Coral Gables after spending the past 16 seasons as the head coach at the University of Toledo, where she compiled a record of 353-169. The six-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year led the Rockets to five MAC regular season championships and 11 postseason berths, including two trips to the NCAA Tournament. Prior to Toledo, Cullop spent eight seasons as the head coach at the University of Evansville.
Cullop is the eighth head women’s basketball coach in Miami history. Her introductory press conference will take place this week at a date and time to be announced.
Miami’s new coach is familiar to many people in the New River Valley as a former assistant t Radford University during a time when the Highlanders were a regular in the Big South championship game.
Cullop was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Radford, Long Beach State, and Xavier, before taking over as head coach of Evansville in 2000.
Dominy running at Milligan
It was a successful trip to the Tennessee Invite as the Milligan University men’s and women’s track & field teams collected three top times in the NAIA, nine top-10 finishes, and 12 personal bests. One of the top runners on the women’s side of things was Auburn High School alum Caitlyn Dominy.
She scored the ninth-fastest time in the 1500 with a time of 4:35.20 as she finished ninth in the event. She followed that with the 14th-fastest time in the NAIA in the 800, logging a personal best time of 2:17.69.
This comes on the heels of Dominy being named the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women’s Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week.

Seven-seed Kentucky gymnastics has advanced to the NCAA Regional Final at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, Ark. following a 197.100 semifinal meet on Thursday.
Fifth-year senior Raena Worley from Christiansburg earned her 30th career all-around title and 27th floor individual win.
UK Coach Heather McAtee has been named WCGA Central Region Administrator of the Year while Worley was named WCGA Central Regional Athlete of the Year, the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) announced this week.
