Fitness swimming classes
The Christiansburg Aquatic Center will be offering an Intro to Fitness Swimming Pre-Masters class beginning September 5. The class will run from 6-7 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays through September 28. This class provides a swimming routine while building endurance.
A coach will provide a workout along with stroke and turn analysis. Participants must be 18 years or older. Registration will cost $25 for members and $35 for non-members.

RU basketball tickets now available
The 2017-18 season produced historic performances from the Radford men’s and women’s basketball teams. NCAA Tournament and WNIT appearances, 47 combined wins, Power-5 upsets and buzzer-beating shots to bring home championships. It was a year we’ll never forget and will forever be grateful to be a part of. But last season is over and the next one is right around the corner. We can’t wait to see what the 2018-19 season has in store and we want you to join us as we write the next page of Radford history.

CAC touth swim practices
The Christiansburg Aquatic Center will be offering two youth (6-18) swim teams beginning September 5. The Fins Youth swim team will begin practice on this date from 7-8 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays through September 26. The Homeschool Swim team will begin practice on this date from 1-2 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays through Sept. 26. Both teams will also offer classes at the same times in October and November.
These non-competitive swim teams are designed to be a fun transition into the world of competitive swimming, or a good way for summer league and high school swimmers to continue their training between seasons. Coaches will be working directly with the swimmers on competitive stroke mechanics as well as overall swimming endurance.
Participants must be able to swim 25 yards in two of the four competitive strokes, and will need to bring a swimsuit, towel, swim cap and goggles to practice.
The Fins Youth swim team registration will cost $45 and Homeschool Swim team registration will cost $40. For more information, or to register for a team, please contact the Christiansburg Aquatic Center at 381-7665.
Green named Big South player of the week
One weekend into her collegiate career freshman libero Grace Green has already been named Big South Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Green, who started at libero in all three games, helped the Highlanders to a perfect 3-0 record and a tournament title at the Baltimore Bash. The Oak Lawn, Ill. native contributed 53 digs or 4.42 digs per set which ranks fourth in the Big South.
She made just one receive error and also tacked on nine assists, two service aces and a kill for good measure. Green, alongside teammates Mallory McKnight and Stephanie Neast, was named to the All-Tournament Team.
RU player honored by Big South
Radford University Redshirt senior Jordan Lundin has been named Big South Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Lundin was given the honor after her performance against Wofford. She led the Highlander defense to its first shutout of the season in a 5-0 win over the Terriers.
Fireball golf challenge
The Ruritan Road Ruritan Club is hosting their first annual Fireball Charity Golf Challenge on September 29 from noon to 6 p.m. at Thorn Spring Golf Course and Event Center, 4360 Country Club Drive in Pulaski.
Lunch will be provided at 12 p.m. and a shotgun start is set for 1 p.m.
The price is $70/person (Includes meal, fees, and cart). four-man team (Captains Choice). Mulligans and Red Tees available. Proceeds will benefit the volunteer fire departments of Pulaski County. Radford University Athletics and Union Bank & Trust announced today a new relationship, ushering in a first-time opportunity for Highlander fans to have a co-branded debit card. Available this month to new and existing customers, the cards will showcase Radford’s athletics logos and university colors.
This partnership makes Union Bank & Trust Radford Athletics’ newest corporate partner. The financial institution is working closely with the university’s exclusive athletics multimedia rights holder, Learfield’s Radford Sports Properties, to ensure brand visibility and benefits in other areas of its partnership in addition to the signature debit card component.
Union Bank & Trust will receive exposure to Radford fans and the campus community through social media, print and radio opportunities, as well as via RadfordAthletics.com, television spots on live streaming events, and courtside signage at the Dedmon Center during men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball seasons.
