Highlander on national list
Radford University redshirt sophomore pitcher Bruce Hudson has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Watch List for the 2020 season, the organization announced on Monday afternoon.
Hudson, a 6-foot-2 right-hander from Washington, D.C., made 18 appearances in his redshirt freshman season for the Highlanders. He compiled a 4-1 record with a 2.89 ERA in 43.2 innings pitched, all out of the bullpen. The righty’s numbers dwindled to a paltry 0.62 ERA in Big South play. Hudson finished the year with 35 strikeouts compared to just 16 walks and was a Second-Team All-Big South selection in 2019.
Hudson is one of four Big South pitchers on the Stopper of the Year Watch List, joining Campbell’s Landry Moore, Charleston Southern’s RJ Petit and Winthrop’s Colten Rendon.
