RADFORD – The City of Radford’s Spirit of America Fourth of July festival, held Tuesday in Bisset Park, brought thousands of people to the park to celebrate Independence Day.
Live music entertained the crowd throughout the day, including the popular Motown Revue, Cat 5, and Dustin Chapman, leading up to the headliner, Edwin McCain and his band. McCain played several of his hits, including his two most popular songs, “I’ll Be,” and “I Could Not Ask For More,” both of which were on the Billboard Top 40 chart. He also entertained with several songs with a funk jam feel, and also performed covers of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes” and Seal’s “Crazy.”
Other highlights of the day included a police K-9 demonstration, the singing of the National Anthem by Dustin Chapman, and opening remarks by Radford Mayor David Horton. The festival also included food trucks, craft and merchandise vendors, and a big children’s activity zone with inflatables and games, and music.
The day closed with a fire works display by Grucci, sponsored by Third Security.
