Stanley Lewis Smith, Sr., 91, of McCoy, went to his heavenly home Monday, May 18, 2020, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery.
He was born in Montgomery County on July 20, 1928, to the late Irvin and Ruby Queen Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Dowdy Smith; his son-in-law, Billy Tuck; a granddaughter, Stephanie Tuck; a sister, Emma; and brothers Sherman and Lawrence.
Stanley was a veteran of the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952. He served in Germany with the 527MP Company (Military Police), the 709 MP Battalion and the 4th MP Company in Frankfurt. He attended VPI and RPI, which is now VCU. He spent his career as a traveling sales representative.
Stanley is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Gail and Doug Williams, and Debbie and Bernard Duncan; his sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley L., Jr. (Shake) and Kim Smith; Kenny Dale and Patty Smith; five grandchildren, Nichole Davis, Keith (Amy) Williams, Andrew (Anna) Smith, Stephen (Michelle) Smith and Daniel (Emily) Smith; ten great-grandchildren, Tyler and Katlyn, Addie, Maddie, Colt, Tanner, Bentley, Kinsley, Lucas, Charlie, and Sawyer; a sister, Joyce S. Davies; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Nancy Smith; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Smith.
Graveside services were held Friday, May 22, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Centennial Christian Church Cemetery, McCoy with the Rev. Gary McCoy and the Rev. Shake Smith officiating. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
