RADFORD – Six Radford High School wrestlers will be competing in the VHSL state tournament this weekend.
The tournament began Friday, Feb. 17 and concludes today, Saturday, Feb. 18.
“An amazing thing happened today at the Region 2C wrestling tournament,” the high school announced Feb. 11. “We are taking six wrestlers to state. This is an accomplishment that has not occurred for at least 15 years. So proud of the hard work and wrestling that happened today.”
The following wrestlers are participating in the state competition, listed with their placement at the regional competition:
Charlie Davis- First place at the 215-pound weight class.
Taven Williams- Second place at the 150-pound weight class.
Lance Duncan- Second place at the 175-pound weight class.
Dawson Martin- Second place at the 190-pound weight class.
Cole Martin- Third place at the 157-pound weight class.
Zeb Martin- Third place at the 285-pound weight class.
Also receiving medals at the regional tournament:
Jacob Lewis-Fourth place at the 138-pound weight class.
Jackson Gilbert- Fifth place at the 144-pound weight class.
Dominic Mays- Fifth place at the 165-pound weight class.
The VHSL state wrestling competition is taking place at the Salem Civic Center.
