Phyllis Craig Thomas Simpson, 92, of Radford, Va., passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. She was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Her fondest memories were spending time with Donald at Clemson University, traveling and camping with the Road Runners and their dog, Rusty, and socializing with her Radford area dancing group.
Born on June 6, 1926, she was preceded in death in December by her husband of 71 years, Donald Edward Simpson; parents, Parker and Adah Thomas; brother, Edwin Thomas; and brother-in-law, George Simpson.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Chuck Moody of Richmond; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Ruth Simpson of Richmond; grandchildren, Jennifer, Chris, Michael, Kate and Sgt. Parker; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Thomas and Emma Jean Thomas.
The family would like to thank everyone in the Radford community who helped Don and Phyllis over the 56 years they made it their home, most especially their neighbors and church family.
The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Central United Methodist Church in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. Don Shelor officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Central United Methodist Church General Fund, 803 Wadsworth St., Radford, VA 24141.
