With a wrestling recruiting class already ranked ninth in the nation by FloWrestling, Virginia Tech has added another prospect with the signing of Simeone Holmes.
Hailing from Midlothian, Va., Holmes wrestled at 170 and 182 pounds for Cosby High School. He was the second-ranked 182-pound wrestler in the commonwealth, according to Virginia Wrestling. He won the 2019 and 2020 Virginia state championships after a second-place finish in 2018.
With the signing, the Hokies add another in-state grappler to their lineup in an incoming class that includes Virginia natives Sam Fisher and Nate Warden. Tech has had success with commonwealth wrestlers, including 2019-20 starters Hunter Bolen, John Borst, Collin Gerardi, B.C. LaPrade, Joey Prata and Stanley Smeltzer.
