Dorothy Duncan Semones, age 78, of Mt. Airy, NC formerly of Christiansburg died July 2 at the Woltz Hospice House, Dobson, NC.
She was born in Montgomery County, Virginia on August 21, 1938 to the late Roy Erby and Mintha Gallimore Duncan. She was also preceded in death by her husband Roger Brown Semones, sisters, Martha Lytton, Mary Laxton, and Nancy Stump; brother, Marvin Duncan. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Dwight Sechrist, Mt. Airy, NC, Deloris and Kenneth Shumate, Dobson, NC, and Lesa and Ronald Sizemore, of Mt. Airy, NC; son and daughter-in-law, William Eugene and Pam Rutherford, of Cana, Va.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Susie and Cecil Lytton, of Fairlawn, and Frances and Roger Wade, of Christiansburg; brother-in-law, Buddy Lytton, of Dry Valley; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwight Sechrist officiating. Interment followed in the Southwest Veterans Cemetery, Dublin
. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice House, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:00 am Thursday before the service at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg, Va.
