Carlos Hopkins, secretary of veterans and defense affairs, and Kathleen T. Jabs, deputy Secretary of veterans and defense affairs, for the Commonwealth of Virginia toured and inspected the Radford Army Ammunition Plant on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Secretary Hopkins and Deputy Secretary Jabs were on site to learn about the plant’s modernization efforts and the effort of the plant’s operating contractor, BAE Systems, to use cutting-edge technologies to develop product innovations that support modern warfare, safer energetics and the needs of the U.S. Army.
During their tour of the facility, Hopkins and Jabs met with Lt. Col. Anthony J. Kazor, the ammo plant’s commander, and a group of active-duty service members and veterans.
At the end of the visit, Hopkins said, “The Radford Army Ammunition Plant is an incredibly impressive operation. It is an important facility for our warfighters, and a military-friendly working environment for veterans. I met with several veterans on site and appreciate their continued commitment to give back and serve.”
