Schaeffer Memorial Baptist Church will honor Rosalie Paige on her 90th birthday Saturday, Oct. 17, with a drive-by parade at 1 p.m. and a Zoom celebration at 4 p.m.
The church is located at 580 High St. in Christiansburg. The public is invited to drive by the church, display a sign for Mrs. Paige and wave and say hello to her from the car.
The drive-by parade will be followed by a Zoom birthday celebration with family, friends and community members taking part.
For most of her ten decades, Rosalie Paige has been an inspiration and an agent for change in Montgomery County. She opened up the electoral board to black representation. She named the New Mountain Climbers giving circle and the Community Foundation endowment fund. She is a founding board member of the Community Group of Montgomery County, the sponsor of the Dialogue on Race.
