The Salem Red Sox rolled out their 2018 schedule Wednesday, including 33 weekend tilts and plenty of fireworks among their 70 home games at Haley Toyota Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark.
The Sox are set to open the 2018 campaign with a seven-game homestand beginning Thursday, April 5 against the Buies Creek Astros and Wilmington Blue Rocks. Salem will play 16 of 24 April games at home, offering fans plenty of chances to catch some exciting early-season baseball.
The second half promises lots of action as well, kicking off with an eight-game homestand from June 21 to June 29 against the Frederick Keys and Carolina Mudcats.
The Sox will then head on the road from June 30 until July 8 in their longest road swing of the season. The Sox will spend plenty of time at home near the end of the season, with 17 of their 32 games in August and September scheduled for Haley Toyota Field.
The Sox close the season with a four-game home series against their regional rivals (and reigning Carolina League co-champions) Lynchburg Hillcats from August 31 to September 3.
Fans who enjoy explosive displays both on and off the field can look forward to exciting fireworks shows after each of the team’s 11 Friday home games.
The most frequent home opponents for the Sox are the Wilmington Blue Rocks and Potomac Nationals, with 12 games against each squad. Over the 33 weekend home games at Haley Toyota Field, the most common opponents for Salem are Lynchburg and Wilmington (six games each). Individual game times will be released in the coming months, as not all game times have been finalized.
