Patrick James Rutzinski, of Radford, Va., passed away on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018. Pat was born on March 17, 1943 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Norbert and Josephine Rutzinski. He was preceded in death by his sisters and brother, Marcella Trzecinski, David Rutzinski, Barbara Grabner, Joan Jones, and Gail Gonion.
Pat is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Judith Rutzinski; sister Donna Laufenberg of Cudahy, Wis.; daughters, Camille Kelly and Jodie Rutzinski of Charlotte, N.C.; sons and daughter-in-law, Paul Rutzinski, and Peter (Lena) Rutzinski, both of Radford, Va. He is also survived by three granddaughters: Nanci, Paula, and Samantha, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pat served his country for 33 years as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He was an active member of the New River Valley Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #21. He was a past president of the Radford High School Athletic Booster Club and spent many years volunteering with Habitat for Humanity building houses in the local community, the Radford Elf Shelf, and Radford Clothing Bank.
Pat was a devout Catholic and active member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Radford, Va.
The family would like to offer special thanks to his doctors and nurses, both locally and at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC for their professional services and compassion.
Funeral services were held on Friday, March 2, 2018 at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Charles officiating. Entombment followed in Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Dublin. The family received friends on Thursday evening at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if contributions were made to the Radford Clothing Bank, 2000 West Street, Radford, VA 24141 or the Radford Food Bank in his name.
