After a stellar senior campaign at Radford University, Travis Fields, Jr., is one of four seniors selected to the Big South team in the 3X3U National Championship.
Fields surpassed 1,000 points in his last outing as a Highlander with a season-high 22 points. It was his fifth 20-point game and 17th game with 10 or more points. The First Team All-Conference member finished the year with 405 points – the most of any season in his career.
The Portsmouth native started all 31 games he played in and contributed 32.1 minutes. He averaged 13.1 points per game and shot 41.6 percent from long range. The senior shared the ball with more than 100 assists for the first time in a season.
The 3X3U National Championship is a competition of all-star teams of seniors who have exhausted their collegiate eligibility, representing all 32 Division I conferences. Jermaine Marrow from Hampton and Winthrop’s Hunter Hale and Josh Ferguson were selected to join Fields from the Big South Conference.
The tournament was slated to take place in Atlanta April 3-5 but was suspended due to the ongoing concerns surrounding COVID-19.
The event’s organizer, Intersport, Inc., has said it will continue to monitor developments related to the coronavirus and will assess options for rescheduling the event. Intersport’s priority with respect to decisions on rescheduling will be to avoid risk to the health and safety of participants and fans.
