The Radford women’s volleyball program is pleased to announce that its annual Alumni Match will be held on Saturday, August 19 at 4 p.m., in the Dedmon Center.
Saturday will feature Janelle Dobbins, a member of the inaugural Radford Hall of Fame Class of 1995, who will be coaching the alumni team. Dobbins, a Radford native, served 19 years as Radford’s volleyball coach before retiring in 1993 as the school’s winningest coach in any sport. Her teams were 369-219, growing from an unaffiliated small college team in 1971 to an NCAA Division I Tournament participant her final season.
Along with the legendary coach, the Alumni Match will have players from the 2013 and 2014 seasons competing. The 2013 team performed the trifecta, claiming the Big South regular season, ran away with the Big South Tournament Championship and earned an NCAA Tournament bid.
The 2014 team posted a record of 24-8 and went 12-2 against Big South competition. The squad claimed a Big South regular season championship and went 9-0 when playing teams inside the Dedmon Center.
