Ronald Dean Akers, 73, of Walton, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2022.
He was born in Montgomery County on March 10, 1948, to the late Archie Irvin and Frances Lytton Akers. He was also preceded in death by a special aunt, Hazel Lytton.
Dean played gospel music with different groups throughout the years, lastly having been in God’s Country Boys.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Smith Akers; sons and daughters-in-law Ronnie and Debbie Akers, Justin and Alechia Akers, and Greg and Christina Akers; daughters and sons-in-law Crystal and David Musick and Rachael and Tim Quesenberry; stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law Joe and Judy Meyer, Lindsey and Vicki Akers, Toby Akers and Carmen Sansone; grandchildren Brandon, Brittany, Cody, Brooke, Adam, Keri, Austin, Rylee, Sarah, Lannie, and Stella; a great-grandchild, Mason; step-grandchildren Shane, Allison, T.J., Kayla, Joe, and Elizabeth; sisters and brothers-in-law Dana and Tommy Lester and Teresa and Perry Hall; brothers and sisters-in-law Don and Carolyn Akers and Dale (Brown) and Sarah Akers; a special friend, Little Josh Thornsbury; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Graham and Pastor Eddie Gallimore officiating. Interment followed at Lytton Family Cemetery, Walton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
