Cyclists will gather in Radford this evening, Wednesday, May 19, for the annual Ride of Silence. This ghost bike pictured above is displayed the week of the Ride of Silence at the site of a cycling death in 2008. Dr. Fess Green was killed while cycling near the entrance to Bisset Park. Ride of Silence events are held nationwide in honor and memory of people killed or injured on roads while cycling or on foot, as well as to increase awareness of cyclist safety. The public is invited to attend the ride, which is done at a slow pace for all ages. The group will begin the ride by meeting at the parking lot of Sal’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria on West Main Street at 6:30 p.m.
