Radford’s Spirit of America Celebration set for Fourth of July

Jimmy Fortune will  headline The Radford July 4th Spirit of America Celebration, set for Thursday July 4 in Bisset Park.

RADFORD – Jimmy Fortune will once again headline The Radford July 4th Spirit of America Celebration, set for Thursday July 4 in Radford’s riverside Bisset Park.

“We will have food and craft vendors, free children’s games and inflatables, as well as a great line-up of music, and the best fireworks around,” state organizers of the annual event. “Come on out and join in the fun as we celebrate July 4th; hope to see you there!”

The annual Spirit of America festival is a free event organized and primarily sponsored by the Radford Parks and Recreation Department. Shuttle buses will run 1:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

Emcee for the day is Derrick Davis from Classic Country 98.1FM.

The schedule of events is as follows:

1:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. – Faithful Praise

1:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.- free inflatables and children’s games

2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.- Gate 10 Band

4 p.m. – 5 p.m. – The Castaways

5 p.m.- 5:15 p.m.:

Opening remarks by Mayor David Horton

Patriotic readings by Dr. Richard Harshberger

National Anthem by RPD Lt. Andy Wilburn

5:15 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. – K-9 Exhibition by the Radford Police Department

6 p.m. – 7 p.m. – Brooke and Darin Aldridge

7:15p.m. – 8:45 p.m. – Jimmy Fortune sponsored by WBRF Classic Country 98.1FM

9:30 p.m. – Fireworks sponsored by Third Security
