Susan P. Trageser has been named associate vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students at Radford University.
Trageser has been with Radford University since 2012, when she was appointed associate dean of students. Since then, she has held senior leadership roles in Student Affairs, including interim vice president of Student Affairs from May 2017 to January 2018 and interim dean of students from August 2016 to May 2017.
“Susan is a valued member of the Radford family and has demonstrated exceptional leadership and student-centeredness during her tenure in Student Affairs,” said Radford University President Brian O. Hemphill. “We look forward to her numerous contributions as associate vice president and dean of students as together we embrace Radford’s traditions and envision our future.”
Prior to joining Radford University, Trageser served as assistant dean of students and director of the Center for Student Conduct and Community Standards at the University of California – Berkeley. Additionally, she previously served as assistant director of Student Affairs at the University of North Carolina – Greensboro and associate director in the Office of Student Conduct at North Carolina State University.
“This promotion to associate vice president and dean of students is fitting, because she is a fierce advocate and supporter of all Radford students. I look forward to her leadership in this new role,” said Ann Marie Klotz, vice president for Student Affairs.
Trageser will provide leadership to the dean of students areas, including the Office of Housing and Residential Life, Office of Student Standards and Conduct, Center for Accessibility Services, Substance Abuse and Violence Education Support Services, Student Health Center, Student Counseling Services and will oversee the threat assessment team. She will also serve as advisor to the Student Government Association.

Trageser holds a Master of Education degree in counselor education from the University of North Carolina – Greensboro and a Bachelor of Arts in middle grades education from Elon University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Fielding Graduate University.
