RADFORD – The Radford Public Library Summer Reading Club is in full swing, with hundreds of children, teens and adults reading daily and enjoying the myriad fun activities the library is offering.

Nelleigh Calvin checks out of the goats at the Little Critters Traveling Petting Zoo at the Radford Public Library Tuesday, along with her aunt Paisley Calvin and family friend Hannah Sarver.

Mason Bell says the donkey’s fur is surprisingly soft as he pets one of the farm animals at the petting zoo.

The duck was quite vocal at Tuesday’s petting zoo.

The Summer Reading Club kicked off May 31 with a slime-making activity for kids, and continued Tuesday with a visit from Little Critters Traveling Petting Zoo from Troutville. Sunny skies and warm temperatures brought a big crowd out to the children’s yard at the library to enjoy the host of animals, including alpacas, donkeys, baby pigs, goats, a bunny, a duck and a chicken.

The Library has several events planned for the summer for children and adults. Check out www.radfordva.gov and click on the library tab for more information.
