Radford and Glenvar will line it up for the second time this season on the football field this Friday as both schools advanced in the state playoffs.

Peyton Dobbins threw five touchdowns in last week’s 44-7 Radford win over Appomattox and finished the game 14 of 17 for 238 yards.

Glenvar signal caller Brady Dawyot did not play this past week and is questionable for the Radford game. He suffered an ankle injury two weeks ago. In is place, Cale Vaughn was 11 of 20 with 168 yards with a touchdown.

But this fact could lean more toward Radford in the game that matters most.

Dawyot broke the Virginia High School League all-time passing touchdown record this season.

Glenvar took a 35-0 win during the regular season trails Radford 16-15 in the series. Glenvar has outscored its opponents 496-41 this year. Their closest game was a 49-19 win over Carroll County. The team also beat Galax 70-0 to start the 2025 season.  There was a 28-7 win over Northside. But the schedule has included five shutouts including this past week’s one over Nelson County, thus pushing the winning streak to 11 games.

During this time, the Glenvar defense has only allowed 3.7 points per game.

Radford held Appomattox to under 100 yards of total offense in Week 1 of the state playoffs.

The winner of this game will face the winner of the Gate City/Graham contest.

Flip the switch, Auburn and Blacksburg were both ejected in week one of the playoffs. Auburn fell 39-20 to Giles, and Blacksburg was a 44-7 loser to GW Danville.

Player of the week: Cam Branch has been high sport for Auburn this year. This past week, he completed 10 of 17 passes for 172 yards as his team participated in the state playoffs after not fielding a full schedule for the past three years. Auburn fell 39-20 to Giles, but Branch had an outstanding performance.

Playoff games:
Radford (7-4) at Glenvar (11-0)

Prediction: Radford 34, Glenvar 30.

George Wythe (7-4) at Giles (9-2)

Prediction: GW 30, Giles 28.

Prediction: Craig 34, Grayson 30.

Carroll County (9-2) at Magna Vista (10-1)

Prediction: Magna Vista 44, Carroll County 7.

William Byrd (8-3) at Lord Botetourt (8-3)

Prediction: William Byrd 38, Botetourt 30.

Floyd (8-3) at Gretna (9-2)
Prediction: Floyd 30, Gretna 24.
