The 10th Annual Radford High School Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony weekend is set for Friday, Aug. 25 and Saturday, Aug. 26 in Radford.
There will be six new inductees into the Hall of Fame Class at Radford High School. They are athlete Elizabeth (Beth) King (Class of 1990), athlete Dana Odell Palmer (Class of 1988), athlete Camille Rutzinski Kelly (Class of1984), athlete Sidney S. Johnson (Class of 1960), athlete and contributor George A. (Abie) Williams, Jr. (Class of 1972), and athlete Robert G. Lineburg (Class of 1986).
The ceremony begins with the inductees, along with their families, being served dinner by River City Grill in the school’s cafeteria at 5 p.m. Friday. Just before the football game between the George Wythe Maroons and the Radford Bobcats, the Hall of Fame Class will be recognized at Bobcat Stadium/ Norman G. Lineburg Field.
The Hall of Fame Class will then meet on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the RHS Library for group and individual photos.
The general public is invited to meet the newest members of the Hall of Fame when the 10th Class is inducted in the school auditorium. The ceremony begins at 5 p.m.
Here is a list of the Hall of Fame Classes.
In 2016, the inductees in the Ninth Class were Ervin B. (Butch) Bill Whitt, Jr., Rose O. Radcliffe Rogers, Chris Garber, James Anthony (Tony) DeHart, and Joe Mannon.
In 2015, the inductees in the Eighth Hall of Fame Class were Tommy Wade Edwards, Dick Wall, David DeHart, Nancy Glass, Posie Amos, Mike Young, and Peyton Brewer.
In 2014, the inductees in the Seventh Hall of Fame Class were Don Dobbins, Harry Bond, Jr., Chuck Housel, Steve Hypes, Barry Miller, J.C. Caudell, Angie Edwards, Anthony (Wooster) Pack, and R.A. “Buddy” Shull.
In 2013, the inductees in the Sixth Hall of Fame Class were Paige Martin Krabill, Melissa “Missy” Poff Heath, Chester Black, Donald Leighton, Donald Dickens, Doug Barton, Robert Jordan, and Deryline DeHart.
The Fifth Hall of Fame Class of 2012 was Denny Hammack, Kenny Edwards, Rodger Wills, Mike Grant, India Adams, Tommy Edwards, E.C. Dickens, and Frank Hurd.
The Hall of Fame Class of 2011 included William Showalter, Jim Johnson, Dr. Ruth Hammack Alexander, Laura Barta, Roger Hughett, Larry Mannon, and Dolphas “Doc” Conner.
The Hall of Fame Class of 2010 included Arthur “Ott” Giesen, Allen Hall, David McCardle, David Morton, Juanita “Mickey” Clement, Charles Eaton, Ralph Fisher, Philip Williams, and Tracie Housel.
In 2009, the inductees were Dr. Nick Pappas, Dr. Bill King, Millicent Shabazz, Peter Moore, Dr. Michael Mauck, Wayne Brooks, Bill “Skipper” King, Bob Whitmer, Norman Lineburg, and B. David Bisset.
The Hall of Fame Class of 2008 included Dick Cook, John Dobbins, Sonny Quesenberry, Ben Turpin, Sonya Adams Curry, Jamie Osborne Little, Betty Branch, Kenny Alderman, Calvin Pugh, George T. Norris, Joe Hodge, Jimmy Painter, Charles Fretwell, Fred McCoy, Virginia McCraw Wilson Edmonds, and Donald Wayne Snell.
All past RHS Hall of Famers are welcomed to attend the induction ceremony (5 p.m.) on Saturday, August 26.
Athletes, coaches and contributors from any of Radford High School’s programs may be nominated once they reach certain eligibility parameters.
