RADFORD – Radford High School celebrated Homecoming Spirit Week last week, kicking things off with a community bonfire on Monday.

Students and teachers participated in themed dress up days throughout the week, and the community lined West Main Street Wednesday for the annual Homecoming Parade.

The JV football team played at James River High School on Thursday evening, defeating the junior varsity Knights, and the varsity team followed suit Friday, defeating James River at home. The homecoming king and queen were crowned at halftime and recreation league “sandlot” football players and cheerleaders were recognized at the game. Earlier on Friday, the high school football team, cheerleaders and drum line held pep rallies at McHarg and Belle Heth elementary schools, as well as read stories to the little Bobcats. The school day ended with a pep rally at the high school.

The week’s activities culminated in the Homecoming Dance, held Saturday at the RHS main gymnasium. Despite a torrential downpour as the dance began, attendees of the dance reported it was a very fun event.
