According to the Radford Fire-EMS department, on Saturday “units were dispatched to the interstate construction bridge at the 105 for reports of smoke. On arrival crews found smoke coming from underneath the bridge and smoldering cross members. Specialized chain saw skills were performed by Lt. Thompson to gain access to the source of the smoke. Booster line was deployed from Brush 1 and water applied. Crews cleared without incident after about 45 minutes.”
