A driver or team of drivers is needed to assist with collecting food donations from the Walmart in Fairlawn on Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings.
The volunteer driver(s) would use their own personal vehicle, preferably a truck, van or SUV, to pick up the food at Walmart around 10 a.m. and transport it to the kitchen at 501 East Main Street in Radford. At the kitchen, the food items are unloaded and weighed. The process is typically completed by 11 a.m.
Radford-Fairlawn Daily Bread is willing to work with a flexible schedule as there are some substitute drivers available. Drivers will be trained.
Radford-Fairlawn Daily Bread provides a meal at no cost each weekday to anyone in need at their dining room at 501 East Main Street in Radford and delivered to the doors of homebound individuals. Food is donated to Daily Bread by Walmart as a partner agency with Feeding America Southwest Virginia. Approximately one hundred free meals are served every weekday.
