RADFORD – When Radford City Public Schools students return to school this Monday, Nov. 4, a new procedure will be in place for visitors to enter school buildings.

“To enhance the safety of everyone in our schools, we are implementing a new visitor management system, RCPS announced. “Each school will now have a kiosk at the entrance. When entering the building, please bring a driver’s license or other approved government-issued ID to scan. Once scanned, you will receive a visitor’s badge to wear while on school grounds. We ask that you scan your badge upon exiting as well.”

“This new system will help us keep track of everyone in the building at all times, allowing us to account for all visitors in the event of an emergency,” the announcement continued. “The new system will be in place and required for all visitors starting Monday, Nov. 4, 2024.”

The kiosks were put in place prior to parent-teacher conferences Oct. 30 and 31, giving visitors the chance to try them out.

“Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we roll out this system,” the announcement reads. “We are always committed to the safety of our students, and we appreciate your support in implementing all of our safety measures.”
