Forum co-sponsored by NAACP MRF, Radford Chamber and LWV-MC
RADFORD – The NAACP Montgomery Co-Radford City-Floyd Co Branch (NAACP MRF), Radford Chamber of Commerce, and the League of Women Voters – Montgomery County (LWV-MC) are co-hosting a forum for the 2024 Radford City Council candidates.
The City Council Candidate Forum will be held this Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the Radford High School Auditorium. The candidates for the city council are Kellie Artrip, Carl E. Mitchell and W. Guy Wohlford. Each candidate has accepted the invitation to participate.
Organizers announced “the NAACP MRF, Radford Chamber of Commerce, and LWV-MC are nonpartisan organizations whose missions include educating voters. The candidate forums are designed to allow voters and residents to hear from and ask questions of candidates.”

The School Board Candidate Forum was held in September. The candidates for the school board are Ben L. Buzzard, Brian K. Dobbins, Rebecca Dunn, Kelsey Marletta, and Amanda Winter.
In addition to the local elections, Radford voters will be casting their votes for president, the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives and a state constitutional amendment in the Tuesday, Nov. 5 election. The amendment involves the Virginia Property Tax Exemption for Veterans and Surviving Spouses Amendment and would change language from “killed in action” to “killed in the line of duty.”
In-person, early voting for Radford City voters began Friday, Sept. 20, and ends Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Radford City Courthouse, 619 Second St. Room 143, Radford. Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m., and Saturdays, October 26, and November 2, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
In addition, a ballot drop box located at the courthouse will be available the same dates and times listed above, as well as Monday, Nov. 4 and Tuesday, Nov. 5 through 7 p.m. Drop boxes will also be available at all regular polling places on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 6 a.m.- 7 p.m.
