Pansy Florene Puckett passed away Oct. 31, 2024 at the age of 90.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herald Glenn Legg and Clara Legg of Hutchinson, Kansas. Left to cherish her memory are Glenda Legg Ward, her sister, and her four sons Tobin, Tad (Kristen), Tim and Tedd(Lisa). Pansy leaves behind seven grandchildren: Kara, Cameron, Christopher, Camille, Laura, Kaylie and T.J. who will miss her dearly, along with her furry friend Taffie.

Pansy grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas and married Robert Earl Puckett after meeting in college. After completing her college degree, she taught first through third grade elementary school in Security, Colorado for 30 years. She later earned her Master’s Degree in Education to become a reading specialist where she enjoyed helping children share in her love of reading. In addition to teaching, Pansy dedicated a large portion of her life being “mom” to over a dozen foster children. She also volunteered her time taking care of infants at the local hospital.

Pansy was very proud of providing support for her four sons to attend college. Two of her sons completed medical school. Pansy was active in church wherever she lived. After retirement she moved to Virginia to be closer to her grandchildren. Pansy has resided in Virginia for 25 years and attended the Church of the Brethren in Christiansburg. She was a loving and kind woman of great faith. God has always provided for her and now she is in his hands.

Visitation will be Sunday November 10, 2024 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg with Funeral service immediately after at 1:30pm. Internment will be in private at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg.
