Ivan Gerald Phillips, 78, born and raised in Indian Valley, entered his Heavenly home Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, surrounded by his family.
He and Mary were members of the Snowville Baptist Church. He earned a college degree in Accounting at Danville Technical College. He proudly served on the Virginia National Guard for 6 years and retired from Kollmorgen with over 30 years of service. His true passion in life was traveling with his beloved wife, hunting at the family cabin on Max Mountain, golfing, fishing in Lake Erie with close friends and spending time with his grandchildren. Ivan was a godly man who embodied the very best of qualities: unconditional love, unending generosity and the strongest heart of gold.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Lora Phillips, and a special uncle Olen Phillips.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Phillips; son and daughter in-law, Ronnie and (Debbie) Akers of Christiansburg; four daughters and sons-in-law, Suzette (Nelson) Tart of Raleigh, N.C., Crystal (David) Musick of Snowville, Stacy (Scott) Ham of Newport, N.C., and Rachael (Tim) Quesenberry of Riner; ten grandchildren, Brandon (Alyssa) Musick, Brittany Akers, Cody (Stefanee) Quesenberry, Dylan (Kate) Sumner, Brooke (Derek) Scott, Keri (Neil) Sheppard, Morgan (Thomas) Strain, Adam (Taylor) Quesenberry, Tyler Ham and Kyle Ham; seven great-grandchildren, Brayden, Mason, TJ, Josie, Mae, Sadie and Hazel; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane and Charlotte Phillips and Kevin and Melinda Phillips; and many other special aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford with Rev. Neil Wood officiating with burial services to follow at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m.
