Friday morning, Sept. 2, shortly after midnight, Blacksburg police officers and members of the Blacksburg Rescue Squad answered a call to the 2200 block of S. Main St. in response to a call reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
The pedestrian was identified as John Wallace Thomasson, 20, of Fairfax, Va. Despite life-saving measures taken at the site of the collision, Thomasson did not survive his injuries. Early reports indicated that the driver of the vehicle was cooperating with the police department’s investigation.
According to the Blacksburg Police Department, the investigation into the incident is ongoing. The department has asked that anyone with information about the case to please call the department at 540-443-1400.
