P.E.O. is a charitable organization that is passionate about its mission of promoting educational opportunities for women.

Our Sisterhood proudly makes a difference in women’s lives with six philanthropies that include Cottey College in Missouri, an independent, liberal arts and sciences college for women, and five programs that provide higher educational assistance with grants, awards, loans and scholarships. P.E.O. was started in 1869 and continues to be where women celebrate the advancement of women; educate women; and motivate women to achieve their highest aspirations.

In addition to supporting the above mentioned philanthropies, P.E.O. Chapter H of Radford annually awards three local scholarships for deserving women:

Dorothy Collins Scholarship: $1,500

This year’s recipient from Radford High School is Mary Elizabeth Elliott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenton Elliott. Mary Elizabeth will attend the University of South Carolina Upstate with plans to major in nursing.

From Pulaski High School is Mikayla Brianne Cox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Cox of Draper, Va. Mikayla will attend James Madison University with plans to major in psychology.

Suzanne Garst Glass Scholarship: $1,000

This year’s recipient from Radford High School is Natalie Elise Cockram, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Cockram. Natalie will attend Virginia Tech with plans to major in biology.
