Elizabeth Ann Sutphin Ottinger (Libby), 73, passed away suddenly Sunday, June 4.

She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 51 years, Alvin Ray Ottinger, and her beloved daughter, Catherine Elizabeth Ottinger.

She is also survived by her sister, Mary Louise Summers, niece, Deborah Bare, nephews, John Hardie and Jay Hardie, cousins, Linda Rae Lupold Blair, Ray Palmer Lupold, Rachel Sutphin Herrmann, John Brown Sutphin and Sandra Collins Long.

Libby and Alvin lived on Catawba Road in the home in which Libby was raised. They were members of the Roanoke Valley Presbyterian Church. Libby worked as an elementary school teacher and later as a teacher’s aide in Montgomery County Schools. She was kind-hearted and rescued many unwanted animals. She was quick to laugh and slow to anger; she was a gentle and loving person who dearly loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral arrangements are private.
