Orbital ATK names retired Maj. Gen. Ole Knudson to head precision weapons division

Dulles, Virginia—Orbital ATK, a global leader in aerospace and defense technologies, has named retired Army Major General Ole A. Knudson as Senior Director of Precision Weapons for the Armament Systems Division of Orbital ATK’s Defense Systems Group. Knudson will lead company efforts to design, develop and produce next generation precision weapons creating advanced capabilities for the warfighter.


Knudson comes to Orbital ATK following a distinguished service record in both the U.S. Army and the Missile Defense Agency, where he most recently served as Deputy Director.

While with the Army, Knudson served as the Program Executive Officer, Missiles and Space at Redstone Arsenal; Director, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology Operations Forward in Iraq supporting Multi National Forces Iraq; and Deputy Director for the Security Assistance Office Afghanistan within the NATO Training Mission Afghanistan/Combined Security Transition Command Afghanistan.

Knudson joins Orbital ATK at a time when the company is experiencing increased customer demand in weapons technologies that are more accurate, longer range, dependable and safe for the warfighter. He will lead the company’s efforts to maximize the capabilities of the Precision Weapons business to enhance existing products as well as create new precision products for both domestic and international customers.
