New River Community College will offer several one-day workshops on Microsoft Office computer programs in April and May.
“Excel: Introduction” will cover formulas and functions, as well as sorting and filtering information. Participants will use beginning features of Excel to enhance data, such as tables, SmartArt and page formatting. This workshop will be held Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (#5504).
“Word: Intermediate” will work with styles, outlines and sections to format reports. Students will learn about templates, building blocks, SmartArt and track changes. This workshop will be held April 10, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (#3629).
“Excel: Intermediate” will cover managing worksheets and workbooks, advanced formatting, subtotals, range names, tables, sharing, protection and templates. This workshop will be held April 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (#5505).
“Word: Advanced” will cover performing mail merge, and creating forms, master documents, table of contents, footnotes and indexes. Students will also create macros, customize the ribbon and set Word options. This workshop is scheduled Monday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (#3630).
“Excel: Advanced” will use features of Excel to create and enhance PivotTables, use advanced functions, use Goal Seek and analysis tools and create macros. PivotTables are used to analyze and compare large amounts of data. This workshop will be held Thursday, May 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (#5506).
All courses will be held at NRCC’s NRV Mall site in Christiansburg, room 143. Tuition is $115 per course and the workshops will prepare individuals to become Microsoft Office Specialist certified.
