Communities all over the New River Valley are participating in cleanup events beginning this weekend.
Improving the roadways and waterways of the region continues to be a focus of local efforts according to an announcement from the New River Valley Regional Commission who is helping announce these local cleanup efforts.

The New River Valley Regional Commission supports these events as the convener of the New River Watershed Roundtable (NRWR). The NRWR represents local governments, businesses, student organizations, and the public, in supporting water quality projects within the New River watershed.

The New River Valley Regional Commission is one of 21 planning districts in Virginia whose commissions are chartered under Virginia law.
The organization encompasses the counties of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery, and Pulaski, and the City of Radford.
The purpose of the Regional Commission is to promote regional cooperation, to coordinate the activities and policies of member local governments, and to provide planning assistance to local governments.
