Three Seventh Legislative District Republican candidates — Marie March, Sherri M. Blevins, and Lowell Bowman — have been certified by the nominating committee as the qualified candidates to run in the Saturday, April 24, 2021, Firehouse Primary.
Seventh-district committee chairman Gene Bishop said about the qualifying, “These three candidates are seeking to replace House of Delegates Member Nick Rush, who decided not to seek re-election after serving for ten years. The winner of this primary will be on the Nov. 2, 2021, general election ballot as the Republican nominee for the Seventh Legislative District House of Delegates seat.”
Firehouse primaries typically have only one polling place for each county. The April 24 primary will be held from 9 a.m. until noon at the Jessie Peterman Library, 321 W. Main St., in Floyd; the Montgomery County-Montgomery Government Center, 755 Roanoke St., in Christiansburg; and the Farris Building, 5581 Fairgrounds Circle, in Dublin.
The filing deadline was Friday, April 9. The district legislative committee met with all three candidates and adopted the Firehouse Primary Rules with candidates’ input. The seventh district includes all of Floyd County and part of Montgomery and Pulaski counties.
