“Get your acting hats on, because it’s time to audition for New River Stage. Next weekend, we will be hosting auditions for our summer show “Decision Height” by Meredith Dana Levy,” said the theater in a recent release. This show features strong female pilots in World War II.
Auditions will be held from 6-8 pm Friday, May 25 at the Christiansburg Public Library and from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, May 26 at the Village Center at Warm Hearth Village. Pick the audition that is most convenient to you.
“Just show up! Auditions are cattle-call style and everyone will get a chance to read,” the New River Stage announcement said. “You do not need to come prepared with a monologue. Come ready to read scenes from the show, play theater games, and have a great time.”
If you cannot attend, contact Lincoln Sklar (newriverstageinfo@gmail.com) to schedule an alternative audition time.
“Decision Height” is an all female, adult and teen cast. Auditions are open to teen (high school) and adult actors who can convincingly play late teens to mid 40s.
“We have a need for sound, lighting, house, set building and other tech help. If you’re interested, please contact Lincoln Sklar and feel free to reach out to us,” New River Stage said.
About Decision Height: “From the winner of the 2013 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, comes a story about friendship and the complex though essential role of women in wartime. Virginia Hascall has left her home and fiancee to become a Women Airforce Service Pilot (WASP), and do her part to help defeat the Axis powers in the second World War. Through triumph and tragedy, she and her sisters in flight suits learn as much about themselves as they do about airplanes. As the war rages over there, the women form a sisterhood that cannot be broken, and Virginia must make a decision that will change her life forever. With a cast of nine vibrant female characters, Decision Height offers a look into an under-recognized subset of American heroes and revises history into herstory,” the announcement said.
