The Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County NAACP Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20 at Schaeffer Memorial Baptist Church, 580 High St. in Christiansburg.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Brandy Faulkner, Professor in Political Science, International Studies and Africana Studies at Virginia Tech.

As a young professor she is known for her outreach to students and the community, helping people sign up for health insurance and holding open office hours in the Black Cultural Center for underrepresented students to talk about personal or academic issues.
Faulkner specializes in constitutional and administrative law, race and public policy, and critical organization theory.
She teaches courses in public administration, constitutional law, administrative law, research methods, and the politics of race, ethnicity, and gender.
Her topic will be “Injustice Anywhere is a Threat to Justice Everywhere.”
“Please join us–all are welcome!”
