Dan Cecil Monroe, 88, of Claytor Lake, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019. Born on July 13, 1930, he was a veteran of the U. S. Navy, the U. S. Air Force, and the U. S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the Pulaski V. F. W. Post #1184 and was retired from the engineering department of the Virginia Defense Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elizabeth Monroe; and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Helen P. Monroe; daughter, Susan M. Morgan; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Monroe, and Joel Kelly Monroe; and a great grandson, Jackson Lee Monroe.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Graveside services with full military honors will follow at 1 p.m. in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
