Peggy Ann Martin, 82, of Radford, passed away Jan. 7, 2020 in Winston-Salem, N.C., of a lingering illness.
She was born July 1, 1937, in Blacksburg to the late John Walter and Thelma Jean Callaway Martin.
Peggy was retired from the Radford AAP. Previously, she worked at Corning and prior to that was a beautician in Blacksburg and Washington, D.C.
A proud graduate of Blacksburg High School, Class of 1957, she loved attending her class reunions. Peggy was recognized in 2017 at her 60th reunion as the only classmate to have never missed a reunion. Some of her interests were watching major league baseball and VT Hokie sports. She was an avid Elvis fan and a staunch Democrat.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her sister, Mary Louise Martin of Blacksburg, and her brother, Walter Keith (Joe) Martin of Winston-Salem, N.C. She is survived by a niece, a great niece, great nephews and cousins. Also surviving are special friends Nancy and Lee Brower of Radford, and classmate and friend Juanita W. Trott and husband Tom of Christiansburg.
Family and friends wish to thank the nurses and staff of the Radford Health and Rehab Center for their kindness and care of Peggy.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 201 Harvey Street, Radford, VA on Mar. 11, 2020, at 2 p.m. with a committal service immediately following in the church memorial garden. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Peggy’s memory to Christ Lutheran Church Memorial Garden.
The Martin family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
