Katherine Bell Martin, 89, of Radford, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2019 at Friendship Manor in Roanoke. She was a member of Grove United Methodist Church and was a retired social worker with the City of Radford. Born on Jan. 1, 1930, she was a graduate of the College of William and Mary. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Grover Thomas Martin, Sr.; and her parents, Thomas Briggs Bell and Myrtle Estelle Gardner Bell.
Survivors include sons, Grover Thomas Jr. and his wife Elizabeth D. Martin of Prince George, and James B. Martin and his fiancée Kimberly D. Monticue of Newport News; daughter, Ann M. Martin of Roanoke; grandson, Christopher C. Martin of Colonial Heights; cousin, William A. Bell of Windsor; and many other relatives and friends.
The family received friends on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Memorial services will be held today, Saturday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at Grove United Methodist Church in Radford with Rev. Mark Kilbourne officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Grove United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
