Mabel Elizabeth Long, 94, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, May 12, 2022, at her home.
She was born in Alleghany County, Va., on January 25, 1928, to the late Guy M. And Jessie Friddle Landrum.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63-and-a-half years, Ralph Woodrow Long, Sr.; a brother, Guy Landrum, Jr.; a sister, Margaret Roberts; brothers-in-law, Aubrey Shaw, Don Roberts, and Randal Keister; a daughter, Phyllis Mabry; a son-in-law, Gerald Mabry; a great-granddaughter, Jessie Kessinger,; and a great-grandson, Morgan Phillips.
She is survived by her sisters, Virginia Keister and Shirley Shaw; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Glen Phillips, Donna Linkous and Calvin Meadows, and Lois and Mike Caldwell; sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph, Jr., and Susie Long, and Johnny and Shelby Long; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; a special niece, Louise Saville; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Carilion New River Valley Hospice.
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 16, 2022, at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price and the Rev. Rocky Huff officiating. Interment followed at Zack Price/James R. Long Cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home.
