The Radford men’s basketball game against Longwood, originally scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 25, has been moved to Thursday, Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. and will be aired nationally on ESPNU, the Big South Conference announced Wednesday morning.
The Highlanders will host the reigning Big South champions on Carilion Clinic Court at the Dedmon Center in a pivotal contest for position in the conference standings, as well as bragging rights within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Now in its second season under the direction of Radford native Darris Nichols, Radford boasts one of the most talented squads in program history.
Murray State transfer DaQuan Smith leads the team in scoring while four-time Big South Freshman of the Week Kenyon Giles adds scoring punch off the bench. Former five-star prospect and McDonald’s All-American Bryan Antoine continues to show why he was so highly touted before coming to Radford from Villanova. Returning veterans Josiah Jeffers and Shaquan Jules have paced the Highlanders in assists and rebounds respectively.
Longwood took a major leap forward last season, going 26-7 overall and 15-1 in conference play en route to an NCAA Tournament appearance. The Lancers’ success has continued so far this year as they are currently the last undefeated team in the league.
Former Virginia Tech Hokie and Wake Forest Demon Deacon Isaiah Wilkins has played a huge role on Griff Aldrich’s teams, but Longwood’s roster features quality depth from top to bottom.
