Read to a Therapy Bird!

April 8, 11-11:50 a.m.

All new readers welcome! Practice reading aloud in a comforting setting. Call to reserve a ten minute reading slot with Pip, a therapy bird. Drop-ins welcome and will be scheduled in the order in which they are received.

Monday Afternoon Book Club

April 10, 4-5 p.m.

The Radford Monday Afternoon Book Discussion Group meets in the library’s meeting room on the second Monday of each month at 4 p.m. Everyone interested in these informal discussions is welcome to attend. We will be discussing “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith. Multiple copies of the books being discussed are available to be checked out at the library.

Teen Story Hour

Brown Bag Book Club

The Brown Bag Book Club meets at the library every second Wednesday of the month to enjoy discussion about a selected book. Our April selection is: “Dead Wake” by Erik Larson.

Entries due for teen photo contest

April 14

Submit your best photo to fit the theme “environmental awareness.” Participants must be between the ages 13 and 18. Entry is free, one entry per person. First, second, and third place winners will be chosen from the entries by Andrew Ross, Assistant Professor of Photography at Radford University.

The winning images will be printed, framed, and displayed at the Radford Public Library for the month of May. Winners will be announced at the Earth Day Party at the Radford Public Library on April 25, from 3-4:30 p.m.

Entry is by digital submission. Photos must be in .jpeg format, and at least six megapixels large. Entries are due by 11:59 p.m. on April 14. To submit, please email your photo and completed entry form with a thematic statement to Barbara Tait at Barbara.tait@radfordva.gov.

Videogames for teens

April 14, 2017, 3-4 p.m.

First-come, first-served. The Wii will be set up in the teen area – for teens only. We have some games, but if there is a Wii game you’d like to bring from home, you are welcome to do so.

Easter Egg hunt for teens

April 14, 5-6 p.m.

Search for eggs after hours all over the library! Registration required.

Silent Film Night

April 14, 6 - 7:45 p.m.

Watch the 1930 silent movie “People on Sunday.” Note: this is an after hours event, so please arrive on time to be sure you will be let in.
