RADFORD – A recent effort by Radford’s 7-Eleven store put pizzas in the hands of hungry people in the city.
“Everybody knows that the closer it gets to the holidays, the more people you see collecting donations for various charities throughout the region and it’s no different here in Radford,” writes Phillip Conner, manager of the store. “There are people who are hungry, who are in need of clothing, shelter and medical care and there are many kind-hearted folks trying to do their part by helping in whatever way possible. Our loyal customers are no different.”
Conner recently led an effort to encourage customers to donate funds to purchase pizzas to give to New River Community Action and reached out to publicly thank the people who made it possible.
“As the manager at 7-Eleven Radford I want to give a huge shout out to the customers who paid forward 320 pizza slices to be distributed to needy children here in our fine city,” Conner wrote. “Through their generous donations we were able to pass along 40 large 7-Eleven pizzas to New River Community Action located in downtown Radford who in turn presented the pizzas to their clients.”
“Our customers are primarily students, professionals and staff members from Radford University as well as many many loyal and dedicated local citizens who shop our store on a daily basis,” he continued. “Without their strong passion for giving, these children would have gone hungry this past weekend. Thank you to all 7-Eleven Radford customers who contributed by paying it forward with pizza.”
