Cameron Dickerson, the Democrat turned Libertarian, received the Libertarian nomination for Virginia’s Ninth Congressional District during a special convention.
The seat is currently held by Republican Morgan Griffith.
About the nomination, Dickerson said, “I’m ecstatic about the nomination. It’s been nothing but a pleasure working with the Libertarian Party. I’m running on a platform of removing corrupt police and judiciary system members, gun safety and education without imposing new legislation, and jobs creation through implementing new magnetic energy generation technology to address climate change.
“I want the good folks of the ninth and all Virginians to know I’ll always have your best interests at heart representing you in Washington,” Dickerson said.
Virginia Libertarian Party Ninth Congressional District Chair Sara-Amanda Venegas said, “Mr. Dickerson has a clear vision and plan for increasing jobs and education in the ninth. Being a CIA contractor has given him access to an advanced business network that will allow him to expedite jobs creation in impoverished areas of the district, especially coal country. He is the leadership we desperately need to rebuild the economy. He truly wants to protect your freedoms and the Libertarian Party is proud to have him as the nominee.”
This is the first time in modern history that the Libertarian Party or any third party will challenge in the ninth district.
