In this article, Mr. Frey seems to have copy/pasted the latest gun control activists’ thoroughly discredited “mass shooting” statistics and a gun control “wish list” assembled by the rabidly anti-2nd Amendment Michael Bloomberg/”Moms Demand Action” crowd.
That is no “middle way!”
This article literally drips with a pro-democrat, anti-2nd Amendment political message, which cannot be masked by any amount of sugar-coated rhetoric.
Furthermore, I am personally offended by the article’s attempt to characterize anyone who isn’t automatically in favor of so-called “common sense gun control laws” like those cited in the article, or otherwise disagrees with the viewpoints expressed therein as uncaring dolts who (arrgh!) “don’t care about the children.”
Incredibly, Mr. Frey even exhumed the old, “but if one life can be saved, wouldn’t it be worth it?” canard, which totally ignores the fact that privately owned firearms save far more lives through self/family-defense than are lost to criminal violence; to the tune of 1 to 2.5 million lives saved every year!
The number of lives saved is probably much higher than that because most defensive uses do not result in injury, death or even a round being fired, and thus go unreported.
Frankly, the gun control activists’ brand of shallow “bumper-sticker” advocacy has lost all credibility among those who are still capable of thinking critically and doing their own research!
While this article may be read enthusiastically by those who are already on the gun control bandwagon, it will likely be seen as pure political propaganda by those who have actually researched the topic of “gun safety.”
