The Radford Public Library Lamplighters will host their quarterly Book Sale in the library community room this from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
The Lamplighters are a “Friends of the Library” volunteer citizen’s group formed in February 1974 to push for the Radford Public Library building to be constructed.
“They do amazing work for us, they promote us. People can come join or donate to support their efforts,” Aaron Jerrols, circulation supervisor and public services librarian said.
He himself was a direct recipient of their benevolence and interest in investing in the library’s future, he said, when he was pursuing a master’s degree in library science.
“The Lamplighters helped me buy textbooks and travel to complete the degree,” said Jerrols, who now has that master’s degree.
Citizens are encouraged t come shop for books. Purchases directly provide funding for library programming for all ages.
Paperbacks are $0.50, and Hardbacks are $1.00
“It’s a great fundraiser and very popular. On Friday mornings when we open, there’s always a line to get in,” Jerrols said.
