Blacksburg High School’s Riley Price will continue her basketball career at Western Carolina University.
On Wednesday, Price joined four other Bruins on National Signing Day putting ink to paper in front of family, friends and teammates.
Price said she instantly felt like she was part of a family upon a visit to WCU.
“The atmosphere and culture being built there is second to none,” she said.
Last year, the 6-3 Price was first team All-District, first team All-Region, first team All-Timesland, and team captain for the last two years.
Western Carolina is currently 3-1 in this early part of the season and finished 6-24 in 2023-24. The school is located in Cullowhee, North Carolina and has a current enrollment of 10,145 students.
In college, Price wants to work hard, be a good teammate and contribute in any way she can to make the team successful. “But mostly I want to leave some kind of positive impact,” she said.
Price plans to major in sports psychology with a double minor in communications and public relations. Her goal is to start a program for therapy dogs for athletes.
“Mental health is a very important thing to me, and I think we should keep talking about it,” she said.
Price hopes to play the power forward position in college.
